Scope And Objectives

The USAID Training for Pakistan (TFP) project provides turn-key participant training and capacity development services that are uniquely specialized for USAID/Pakistan Mission teams and public and private implementing partners. The primary purpose of this program is to provide participant training and capacity development services to USAID/Pakistan's contractors, grantees, and partners under Government to Government assistance programs, and at times to the Mission directly. This Mission-wide program will support all USAID sector teams interested in exchanges or training of host-country Pakistani nationals.

Position Summary

The Database and IT Officer is responsible for development and administration of project databases, maintaining project website, providing regular IT support to project team including software installation, troubleshooting and internet service management. The position holder will also be responsible for providing some support to Communications and Outreach team for developing banners, posters, etc. for project website.

Responsibilities

Database Development

  • Design and develop project databases, preferably in Microsoft Access, to capture and report information on trainings and participants.
  • Carry out day-to-day management of the databases, including the data entry work.
  • Develop survey management system (e.g. Google Docs and SurveyMonkey) to capture participants feedback on training programs they attended.
  • In collaboration the Sr. M&E Officer, generate information, via running queries (in Microsoft Access) and data analysis (Microsoft Excel), to be used for decision-making and reporting purposes.

Website Management
  • Manage the website vendor (service provider) to ensure smooth maintenance and functioning of the TFP-III website.
  • Under the guidance of Communications and Outreach Specialist, design posters, banners and other materials for uploading to TFP-III website.
  • Post project information and materials on Project website and make revisions, as necessary.

IT Support
  • Ensure availability and smooth functioning of internet and email services to project staff.
  • Ensure that effective data backup systems are in place and used.
  • Ensure network-sharing of computers, printers, photocopier, scanners etc.
  • Ensure troubleshooting, installation and updating of software, Antivirus protections etc.
  • Expeditiously resolving all IT related technical issues to ensure smooth functioning of office operations



Reporting

This position will be based at the Training for Pakistan Project office Islamabad. The Database and IT Officer will be working under and report to the Finance Manager.

Key Qualifications

  • A relevant undergraduate degree in IT, Computer Sciences or another related field.
  • At least three years of experience in developing databases and or Information Management Systems (MIS) preferably with development sector organizations.
  • Demonstrated capacity in managing websites (WordPress, Drupal etc.)
  • Demonstrated capacity in providing IT and related troubleshooting support to project teams.
  • Experience with donor-funded programs in a similar role, will be an added advantage.
