The Position:

We are seeking a well-organised natural resource management professional to join a small team working on the finalisation and implementation of the Great Barrier Reef Outlook Report – as well as ongoing evidence-based reef reporting and science communication.
The Outlook Report is a five-yearly report on the health and management of the Great Barrier Reef. The position contributes to project management associated with Outlook Report tasks, as well as gathering, synthesising and presenting scientific information.

  • You are willing to contribute to a wide variety of task types (high and low level) to achieve required outcomes.

Duties

  1. Coordinate engagement activities focused on helping key stakeholders identify and understand relevant findings and information relevant to them from the Outlook Report and associated products (particularly the management effectiveness assessment).
  2. Work with internal and external stakeholders and relevant providers in relation to synthesising and producing Reef Reporting products.
  3. Project management of multiple projects and associated contracts.
  4. Support the development of an online format for future Outlook Reports.
  5. Contribute to other tasks within the section as necessary, including review of documents and gathering, analysing and summarising information.

Eligibility requirements & qualifications

Applicants must:
  1. be Australian citizens to be eligible for engagement,
  2. be able to obtain (within a 6 month period), and thereafter maintain, a BASELINE security clearance. Failure to do so will result in termination of employment.
Desirable
  • A strong understanding of the purpose of the Outlook Report, including knowledge of the values of the Great Barrier Reef, pressures on  them, current management, and strategic context.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to tailor and present information to a variety of audiences
  • The ability to demonstrate competency in managing projects.
  • Proven proof-reading, editing and information synthesis skills.
  • Tertiary qualifications or extensive experience in natural resource management.(Highly Desirable)
  • The ability to travel.
