The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Private Sector Engagement Assistant, FSN-9.

The Private Sector Engagement Assistant supports the Private Sector Engagement Officer in his/her oversight and coordination of outreach and programming with the Palestinian private sector and serves as a liaison with the Economic section and USAID when necessary. The incumbent will manage outreach and coordinate activities on entrepreneurship. The incumbent reports to the Private Sector Engagement Officer and the Public Affairs Officer.


Qualifications and Evaluations


A minimum of three years of progressively responsible professional experience in program management, media relations, post graduate research and analysis, or governmental relations is required. Previous experience in event planning is required.

Languages: Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing English and Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing Arabic is required. (This will be tested).

Skills & Abilities: 

Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to draft informative reports.

Must demonstrate interpersonal skills that emphasize both clarity of communication and persuasiveness.

Education Requirements:
Education: B.A Degree in political science, public affairs, public relations, public administration, journalism, business, economics or English literature is required.

Applicants must meet all position requirements, including experience, education, language, and skills.

You will be assessed based on your application score, language test results, and how your qualifications compare to the requirements of the position.
All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications and complete a mandatory probationary period for LE Staff.

Agency Benefits:
Thirteen Month salary

Vacation Bonus – The amount is NIS 371.00 per day. The number of days paid depends on the length of service.

Retirement Plan – Consulate contributes 6.9% and the employee contributes 5.5% of basic salary on a biweekly basis.

Education Fund – Consulate contributes 7.5 % and the employee contributes 2.5% of basic salary on a biweekly basis.

Gift Bonus – The employee will receive NIS 330.00 paid on Passover and Rosh Hashanah.

Annual Leave – Employee is entitled to 13 workdays of annual leave per year, for the first 3 years of service.

Sick Leave - Employee is entitled to 30 workdays of sick leave per year.

Holidays - In addition to observing local holidays as required by law, the Consulate General is also closed for 10 U.S. designated holidays every year.

What is an EFM, USEFM, AEFM, MOH, etc? (


1. The Mission may consider any of the following when determining successful candidacy: nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.

2. Current employees of the Mission who have not successfully completed their initial probationary periods are not eligible to apply. Current employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory or MBC score of 100 points or less, on their most recent Employee Performance Report (EPR) are not eligible to apply.

3. Current employees of the Mission hired on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment. This does not apply for employees on a PSA (Temp), or those are hired on a When Actually Employed (WAE) or intermittent work schedule.

4. Candidates who are EFMs, USEFMs, AEFMs, or MOHs must have at least one year remaining on their sponsor’s tour of duty to be considered eligible to apply for this position.
