LOCATION: Great Plains Region, Regional Office, Information Resources Group, Info Tech Services, Billings, Montana.


- Provide day-to-day general technical support for common commercial PC software; such as MS Office, MS Windows, Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Adobe.

- Provide routine technical support for desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.

- Implement system security fixes, updates, and enhancements.
- Provide customer support and training of devices; maintain documentation and update databases.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - Travel of up to 2 nights per month may be required for this position.

TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees within the area of consideration are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade.


GS-07: 1 full year of graduate-level education or Superior Academic Achievement -OR- 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity of at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service.
GS-09: 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education or Master's or equivalent graduate degree -OR- 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service.
GS-11: 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree -OR- 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service.
Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management OR degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

SUPERIOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT: Superior Academic Achievement is based on: 1) class standing, 2) grade-point average, or 3) honor society membership. Specific requirements are: 1) Class Standing: Upper third of graduating class based on completed courses; 2a) Grade Point Average: 3.0 or higher as recorded on official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education; 2b) based on courses completed during the final full 2 years of curriculum; or 2c) 3.5 or higher based on average of courses completed in the specific major field of study; or 3) Honor Society Membership: Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society listed in the Association of College Honor Societies, Booklet of Information, and/or Baird's Manual of American College Fraternities (membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision).

Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

DEFINITION OF SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To meet specialized experience, your resume must describe experience that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities as follows:
GS-07: Experience responding to IT service requests for commercial PC software such as MS Office, MS Windows 10, Google and Adobe products; and updating databases. 
GS-09: Experience researching and providing IT support on incidents and service requests for common commercial PC software such as MS Office, MS Windows 10, and Adobe products; and experience following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for hardware and software installations.
GS-11: Experience developing SOPs for hardware and software installations; experience with providing day-to-day support for both virtual and physical desktop hardware, software; experience with imaging/configuring PCs; and experience with managing an IT Help Desk.
